Who I am

I joined the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh, as Lecturer in British Politics in October 2016. My research sits within the sub-discipline of parliamentary studies, where I specialise on everyday practices in the UK Parliament (see here for my current research). I completed my PhD at the University of Sheffield.

I’ve been passionate about politics since I was 16 years old. When I’m not studying, reading or writing about politics, I try to cook (still dreaming of publishing my own cookbook and opening a small café in Berlin), I work out at the gym, and listen to 6 Music.

I’m on Twitter: @marcgeddes. Follow me for updates on my academic research, musings about academia generally, and comment on British politics (especially Parliament) and current affairs (as well as a lot of random, non-academic, non-political stuff).
